Welcome to
Create, Inspire, Love

Once a month Mia Bella Passions will select something to share,
from another creative, blog or website....
It may be:
Create: DIY, upcycling, craft, or baking.
Inspire: Art, sculpture, a quote or inspirational message.
Love: Or something I think you will love.

Today it's all about contemporary art
as I share with you the outstanding artwork
of New Zealand artist Bryce Brown.
Artist Bryce Brown in his studio 2016

Bryce's contemporary figurative painting and figures in landscapes are both New Zealand and internationally renowned,
and are very much sort after.
I have chosen a few of his works to show you why...

Painting of a group of men working on the base track of mauao mout maunganui new zealand by bryce brown
'Workers on Base Track' is his latest work.
This piece is historically based and depicts a scene from The Base Track at Mauao, Mount Maunganui.
Many works painted by Bryce have a historical factor gleaned from vintage photographs of Maori and the early settlers.

It is hard to choose which of his pieces I enjoy the most.
Perhaps it is 'Laundry Day.'

Or - 'In The Mood'
from his incredible Dance series of paintings.

But then again I enjoy the colours of the landscapes, which show the beauty of Aotearoa - New Zealand like 'Cape Kidnappers'.

  1. I think I choose 'Laundry Day.' too as my fav. of these works. I think it draws my eyes to the tree in the back and then the angle of the white sheet on the close line running straight with her arm making it look like she is reaching so high. Love the colors choose too.

    1. Totally agree Greg. In fact I love this painting so much I'm going to ask the artist if he has prints of it, as I know the original has sold.
