DIY Coffee Coaster Fabric Makeover...

The 'Let's make the home office beautiful project' continues
with a coffee coaster a makeover.
Nothing worse than coffee cup rings all over the desk,
(Did I mention I LOVE coffee?)
So a pretty coaster was the obvious answer!
Fab excuse to use some pretty fabric from the stash...
All I did was paint over the picture on a coaster with white paint.
This created a neutral back ground for the fabric.
After the paint is dry cut fabric to fit,
leaving a fold over edge.
Then glued (mod podged) the fabric on top.
When it was dry I folded the fabric under the coaster and glued it.
Cover with a layer of mod podge...
As you can see the Mod Podge will dry clear.
Leave for 24 hours,
then spray it with a clear enamel sealer.
And there you have it...
a pretty Fabric covered coffee coaster for the home office.

DIY Chair Cushion...

Here's a quick way to make a small cushion
- perfect for a little back support while working at the computer.
Upcycle a pillowcase for the backing.
Cut to desired size.
Mine is rectangle.
Cover front with desired fabric using machine stitch.
Stuff it with pillow foam and stitch shut.
When not in use as a back support,
this cushion can dress up the vintage rattan stool in the office.
Only a few more things to do
and then you will see the office makeover...
coming soon - I promise!

DIY Chalkboard Labels...

Right now I'm LOVING anything chalkboard...
so I thought I'd whip up some chalkboard labels for the home office makeover.
Label templates are freely available on the Net.
Here are a few to choose from...
Cute heart shaped labels from;
and
funky shaped ones from;
http://www.soubelles.com/2012/03/diy-chalkboard-labels.html
Print out the labels,
cut out,
and use as a stencil on heavy cardboard.
Cut the cardboard shapes out...
Paint with chalkboard paint.
Leave dry.
When dry, punch holes for twine to hang.
Chalk the tags with words....
 Hang
Or glue to attach.
Yes - I'm definitely loving chalkboard labels!

DIY Shabby Chic Valentine Heart...

Dried hydrangea flowers and white paper doilies
were the inspiration
for this pretty
Shabby Chic Valentine Heart....
To make one you will need:
Cardboard
Glue & Hot glue gun
Dried hydrangeas
Ribbon
and some embellishments of your choice.
.-.
Cut out a heart template,
Stencil shape on to a piece of sturdy cardboard.
Enlarge the shape if necessary.
Glue the paper doilies onto the cardboard heart.
You will need to trim them to fit...
Here's the cardboard heart with the doilies glued on.
Now you're ready to glue on the hydrangeas...
I love hydrangeas...fresh or dried.
They bring back memories of my Grandmothers Garden.
Place as desired on the heart,
Then hot glue into place.
 Attach a ribbon hanger.
And some embellishments of your choice.
I used a lovely chalkboard heart...
Onto which I penned the word,
which is the whole purpose of Valentines Day...

LOVE!
