'Beach Finds Fridge Magnets' are terrific gifts to give or to keep for yourself.
They take very little time to create.
So it is a perfect activity for children too.
All you do is gather some small driftwood pieces, shells, pretty sea stones and sea glass.
A hot glue gun
Small Magnets
(All available online or at the dollar store if you don't live near a beach)
Decide which will be the front of the driftwood creation, and use hot glue to attach the magnet to the back of the flattest part of the driftwood.
Then, using hot glue, attach your beach embellishments to the front of the driftwood however you fancy.
(This is where you will need to supervise children, as hot glue can get very HOT!)
I said it was easy, and it is.
The next step is add a little sheen to the shells, as this brings out their beautiful colours.
I used Mod PODGE Gloss Lustre painted on to the shells using a small paint brush.
Box or giftwrap for giving, or place on your refridgerator for your own enjoyment.
Here are FOUR reasons to DIY your gifts:
1/. December is never easy on the piggybank, so creatively homemade DIY gifts can save dollars.
2/. It's truly personal! You are giving a feeling, because they know you made it just for them. You can make, bake or create something that you know is meaningful for the recipient.
Think about their likes, hobbies, favourite baked goodies, or favourite colour.
3/. Crafting is therapy!
In a day-to-day, crazy, busy world and holiday season, it is a perfect excuse to slow down and do something mindful.
4/. It's not about the cost of the gift.
It's about the thought.
And your gift of time to make something special just for them.
Gift giving is a language of love.
