Fudgy No Bake Nut Bar

No Bake Nut Slice

The 'Fudgy No Bake Nut Bar' is a healthier option for a snack than a piece of gooey chocolate cake or a handful of sweets for a boost when energy is low.

No Bake Nut SliceNo Bake Nut Slice

This recipe only takes 10 minutes to prep and mix together.

No Bake Nut Slice

Then one hour of refrigeration to firm up the slice before cutting it into bars or bite-size pieces.

No Bake Nut Slice

This is dark chocolate, nutty and fudgy, without the sugar overload.

And if you want an even healthier option, you can change the brown sugar portion for honey or maple syrup. Just reduce the water added.

No Bake Nut Slice

It's perfect for those of us who are not date fans,

as there are absolutely no dates involved in this recipe!

No Bake Nut Slice

Fudgy No Bake Nut Bar

1 cup of Tahini Paste (sesame paste)

2 teaspoons pure Vanilla paste

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup almond flour

1/2 cup dark cocoa powder

1 cup of small sized dark chocolate chips

1 cup of very finely chopped mixed nuts

(I used a pre-mixed bag of salted roasted cashews, macadamias, almonds, walnuts and Brazil nuts).

3 Tablespoons boiling water

To Make:

Line a 23cm x 23cm (9 by 9 inch) sized cake pan with baking parchment paper.

Mix all ingredients except the water in a large bowl.

Add the water a Tablespoon at a time until the dough forms.

Press the dough into the cake pan.

Use a flat bottom glass to press flat and level.

Refrigerate 1 hour.

To cut into bars or bite-sized pieces, run a knife under hot water, dry, and cut your pieces.

Store in a lidded container in the refrigerator.

They last two weeks if stored this way.

The Power Of Nuts

The amazing health benefits of nuts are vast! They are not only delicious but also incredibly nutritious. They are packed with healthy fats, protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals that offer a range of health benefits.

Heart Health

Studies have shown that consuming nuts regularly can lower the risk of heart disease. They are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which help reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood.

Weight Management

Despite being calorie-dense, nuts can actually aid in weight loss and management. The protein, fibre, and healthy fats in nuts help keep you feeling full and satisfied, preventing overeating.

Brain Function

Nuts contain antioxidants, vitamin E, and other nutrients that are beneficial for brain health. Regular consumption of nuts has been linked to improved cognitive function and a reduced risk of age-related cognitive decline.

Immune Support

The vitamins and minerals in nuts, such as vitamin E, zinc, and magnesium, help support a strong immune system. These nutrients play a crucial role in fighting off infections and keeping your body healthy.

How to Turn an Old Birdcage into a Planter

Upcycled birdcage ideas

If you have an old birdcage lying around and you're looking for a creative way to breathe new life into it, turn it into a beautiful planter for your garden or patio?

Upcycling Birdcages

I could have chosen to leave the cage black, but I wanted to funk it up and paint it a bright colour.

The colour I chose was orange.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can repurpose your old birdcage:

Materials Needed:

· Old birdcage

· Plants or flowers of your choice

· Spray paint in a colour o your choice (optional)

· Potting soil and coconut fibre

· Trowel or gardening gloves

Instructions:

Start by cleaning the birdcage thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.

Upcycled birdcage ideas

Use a drill with a large bit to drill drainage holes at the cage's bottom.

If desired, spray paint the birdcage in a colour of your choice and let it dry completely.

Line the bottom of the cage with coconut fibre matting and then fill the bottom of the birdcage with a good quality potting soil. Upcycled birdcage ideas

Plant your chosen flowers or plants in the soil, arranging them in a way that looks visually appealing.

Water the plants well then place the birdcage planter in a sunny spot where it can thrive.

Upcycling Birdcages

Repurposing an old birdcage into a planter is a fun and eco-friendly way to give a second life to something no longer used for its original purpose. Get creative with different plant combinations and colours to create a unique and eye-catching piece for your garden!

Upcycled birdcage ideas

I love how my birdcage planter adds a little whimsy and charm to my outdoor space. I can't wait for all those plants to grow and fill it up.

And how the orange I painted the cage compliments the colour tones in the bromeliad in the pot beside it, and the fun tropical cushions on the outdoor couch opposite it.  The bonus of this project is this orange upcycled birdcage will be fabulous for my front porch over Halloween with the addition of spiders and webs.
