Table Decor: Succulents Of Course!

Indoor gardeing ideas
After all the Christmas and New Year Bling was packed away my coffee table was left empty...
What does one do about that?
Create an indoor decor succulent bowl of course!
Indoor gardeing ideas
I had an old bonsai planter in the garden shed.
Don't you just love the shape of this planter?
Indoor gardeing ideas
Even though the carpet in the room this succulent planter is going is green,
I decided to freshen it up and paint it white.
Indoor gardening ideas
I used Rust-Oleum spray paint because it is my favourite.
For coverage , easy use and of course the long lasting wear factor.

If you make this decor succulent planter for outdoors,
DON'T plug the holes as I have done here.
Leave them open for drainage.
Because I did not want water leakage on to my indoor coffee table,
I blocked the holes.
The other way is to simply place the planter with unblocked holes onto a small tray to protect the table and runner on it.
DIY Succulent Planter
I potted up my cute selection of succulents.

Then placed tiny aquarium stones around the plant.

DIY Succulent Planter
To the table top I placed the decor succulent bowl and contrasting pieces
- a vintage book stack and a beach found shell.
This table gets full afternoon sun,
but I will still pop the succulents outside in direct sun once a week to help maintain their health.

The vintage book stack picks up all the colours in the succulents and stones,
the shell, and the white of the planter.
Fresh, gorgeous, vintage, nature and beachy -
which completely ticks all the boxes for me!

You'll find the instructions on how to create the vintage book stack HERE.

Love Notes For Your Valentine...

DIY Valentine Love Note Gift
This Valentine project is simple to do,
but does take a little bit of time to create if you make a lot of love notes.
DIY Valentine Love Note Gift
Stamp using red ink and letters - 'Open when you first  get these' on  the first envelope.
Put a word box sticker on each envelope.
Use a chalk paint pen to write  'Love Notes' on the word box.
Decorate with stick-ons of your choice.

On each envelope thereafter Stamp a message.

Romantic Repurposed Poetry...

Repurposed Poetry is usually done with the words blocked out with ink pen scribbles...
But today I'll show you a different technique using watercolour paint.

Valentine Paper Craft
Why not add your sweet repurposed poem to your Valentine's Gift...
Or use your creation as decor decoration.
Here's how to create one:

Valentines Crafts
This poem is one of many free ones found on the internet.
Have a search and find a love poem that you like.
Print it on A4-size paper.

Valentines Crafts
Read through the poem and black out the words you no longer want with watercolour paint.
I used black paint, but you can use any colour you like.

Valentine Decor ideas
 Then add a flower.
And some hearts around the entire poem...
If you need more confidence to paint, just find flowers and hearts to print off the internet to collage with glue onto the paper.
Even with the adaption, it is still a beautiful poem.

It now reads:

The Passion Flower

The hour Love lies down
with folded wings;
His fatal arrows flings.
Not a word is heard,
only from the bridal bird
in darkness sings.
Sweet music,
soft and clear -
'Love is here!'
The moon,
bright spells and hope
gone to dream of pleasures - asleep.
Now smile;
forgetting grief,
to stars or pale moonlight.
'What beauty can the day bestow?'
Turn and tell me - for the day.
And now comes back,
Love -
sighing like the winds 'mongst evening flowers.

Valentine Paper Craft
Roll and tie with a ribbon to gift,
or frame and use it in your Valentine's decor.

A YELLOW Valentines Vignette...

Valentine Decor Ideas
This year, my Valentine's sideboard decor is YELLOW!
I mean - why does it always have to be ...
pink...or red?
My old upcycled sideboard is in the darkest corner of the room,
so the YELLOW makes it POP with beautiful happy colour!
Valentine Decor Ideas
I used my Valentine's collage canvas as the centrepiece.
You can find out how to create one HERE.
Then I bought the brightest yellow chrysanthemum flowers I could find.
If you can't source them, yellow lilies or gerberas are an option too.
I placed the flowers into a French-inspired white tin container that my glass vase fitted inside.
Valentine Decor IdeasValentine Decor Ideas
The other side of the side board was decorated with an upcycled yellow spray painted heart.
Valentine Decor Ideas
This was hung inside a rustic white crate.
Valentine Decor Ideas
The final touch was some fairy lights.
Valentine Decor Ideas
These heart shaped battery operated lights were a 'Farmers' store find.
Valentine Decor Ideas
I'm LOVING everything about my YELLOW Valentine vignette...
Such a bright, cheery and still romantic change from the usual Valentine's colours.
Valentine Decor Ideas
And visitors to my home really LOVE it too.

Valentines Collage Canvas...

Valentines Day Crafts.
This collage art piece is Valentine inspired...
You could create your own picture in whatever colours you like...
I chose yellow.

You will need:
A canvas - 30cm x 30cm with a 3cm edge.
Acrylic art paint in the colour you choose and in white.
A selection of images to collage.
(I used images from the free resources at Graphics Fairy.)
Scissors
Modpodge
Paintbrush.

Valentines Day Crafts.
Step One:  Paint the canvas as desired with the colour paint and with white to create contrast.

Valentines Day Crafts.
Paint the outside edges of the canvas white.

Valentines Day Crafts.
Step Two: Let the paint dry.
Cut out or tear around the edges of your images.

Valentines Day Crafts.
Step Three:  Glue the images in a collage fashion on to the painted canvas using modpodge.

Valentines Day Crafts.
Step four:  Paint a sealer of modpodge glue over the entire collage.
Once it is dry all the images will flatten out on to the canvas.
Valentines Day Crafts.
Staple a string hanger onto back of the picture to hang,
or just stand the canvas on a book shelf or side table.
